Mini Mock Mahjong Tournament

Service Description

Curious about American Mahjong tournament play but not quite ready to enter a full tournament? Join us at Ono Offshore for a Mini Mock Tournament designed to give players a chance to experience tournament-style play in a fun, low-pressure environment. We’ll play four 50-minute rounds, two before lunch and two after, with players rotating tables and seats between rounds. Scores will be kept and top scorers acknowledged at the end of the day, just like in a real tournament, but there are NO CASH OR OTHER PRIZES for placement. This is for fun and practice: pride, not prize! Each participant will also receive one ticket for a random drawing for a few door prizes. Who Should Attend Players should be able to play American Mahjong independently without instructor assistance and feel comfortable playing at a pace of approximately 3–4 games per hour, and be willing to challenge themselves to keep up with the 4 games in 50 minute tournament pace. No tournament experience is necessary. We will aim for four games per 50-minute round. When time is called, unfinished games will not be scored. Schedule Doors open at 9:20 AM for check-in and assigned seating. Players must arrive in time to be seated and ready to hear rules and announcements at 9:45 AM. Morning rounds 1 &2 run from 10:00–11:50 AM, followed by a one-hour lunch break. Afternoon rounds 3 & 4 run from 1:00–2:50 PM, followed by final scoring and recognition of our top scorers. Lunch A pre-order link will be provided for lunch from Aloha Crew Kitchen, which will have your meal available across the street at Ono Brewing at 1150PM. You may also bring your own lunch or grab something else nearby. Beverages There will be soda, tea, apple juice and bottled water available for purchase. Registration: $45 Want to participate but can’t stay all day? That’s OK! Your registration is still $45. We just need to know in advance which round will be your last so we can plan table assignments and rotations accordingly. All Mahjong supplies are provided. Please bring your current National Mah Jongg League card. Rules You will receive an email before the tournament with scoring guidelines and tournament rules. Cancellation Policy Due to limited seating and advance planning for table assignments and rotations, registrations are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you may transfer your registration to another participant with advance notice.
