Mahjong 103

Service Description

Mahjong 103 is a 2–2.5 hour instructional class for players who are comfortable with the flow of the game, understand basic strategy, and are ready to sharpen higher-level decision making. It is designed to be the third class in our series to be taken after 101 and 102, but can be taken by others wanting advanced skill training. This class moves beyond foundational strategy and focuses on advanced game awareness, smarter adjustments, and learning to think several moves ahead. Participants will learn how to identify dead hands earlier, read table exposures for clues about opponents’ hands, strengthen defensive decisions, and recognize when to pivot versus commit. Mahjong 103 sessions may take place at Ono Brewing Company or Ono Offshore in Chantilly, Virginia, depending on the date. The exact location will be listed when booking your session. What to expect • Identify dead hands earlier and know when to pivot • Read exposures to gather information from the table • Strengthen Charleston and hand-selection strategy • Know when to pivot, push, or play defense • Make smarter discards and manage endgame risk • Practice with instructor guidance and discussion All Mahjong supplies are provided. Class size is intentionally kept small and interactive to ensure a supportive and beginner-friendly experience. Minimum: 4 participants Maximum: 8 participants If the minimum enrollment is not met, registered participants will be notified at least 48 hours in advance and offered a reschedule option. Food & Drink Both locations offer beverages for purchase and have craft beer, cider, seltzer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. Odd BBQ is located inside Ono Brewing and offers delicious BBQ if you'd like to grab a bite before class. Ono Offshore only offers snacks like chips, nuts etc. Please note there is not enough space at the Mahjong tables for full meals, but small table snacks and beverages are accetable. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get settled before class begins. Refund / Cancellation Policy: Due to limited seating and advance planning required for our classes and events, all registrations are final and non-refundable. Please confirm your availability before completing your booking. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your seat to another participant with advance notice. Simply email us the new participant’s name so we can update the roster prior to the event. No-shows or last-minute cancellations cannot be credited or refunded.
